SkillsFuture courses: how to find, fund and enrol in the right one

SkillsFuture courses are training programmes listed on the national MySkillsFuture portal, most of which qualify for some government funding. The trick is not finding a course, there are thousands, but finding the right one and knowing which funding applies to it, which is what this page covers.

What counts as a SkillsFuture course?

A SkillsFuture course is any training programme listed on MySkillsFuture, the national portal that supports lifelong learning. It ranges from short skills courses to full qualifications, across nearly every industry.

The portal exists to do three things in one place: help you discover training, apply for it, and claim SkillsFuture Credit. If a course is not on MySkillsFuture, funding usually does not apply to it by default.

How do you find the right course?

Start from the outcome you want, then filter. The portal lets you search three useful ways:

• By industry (for example, Information and Communications, or Advertising, Sales and Marketing).

• By in-demand skill (for example, Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Digital Marketing).

• By funding support, so you only see courses your credit or subsidy applies to.

The practitioner rule: pick on career outcome first, funding second. A cheap course that does not change your work is not a bargain. Read up on what the course is able to teach you, then check the funding.

How does funding apply to a course?

Funding is decided per course, not across the board. Each course page shows its own subsidy and whether SkillsFuture Credit applies, and most display an estimated payable fee so you can see the real out-of-pocket cost.

That is why two similar courses can cost very different amounts after funding. Always compare on the payable fee shown, and check the course page for its specific credit eligibility before enrolling.

How do you enrol?

Find the course on MySkillsFuture, check its funding and payable fee, then apply through the portal with Singpass, claiming any SkillsFuture Credit before the start date. Doing it through the portal keeps your funding, application and records in one place.

Judge any course, including ours, on outcome first. On funding specifically, worth being upfront: Leaders Hangar courses are not listed on MySkillsFuture, so the same credit and subsidy this page describes cannot be applied to them.
